Hi, my name is Phil Proffit and I live in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire with my partner Helen.
I was born in Lusaka, Northern Rhodesia (Zambia as it is now). I was fortunate enough to attend a Grammar school before obtaining a Higher Technicians diploma in building studies.
I got the wanderlust bug from my parents and ended up in Cape Town, South Africa when I finished my studies. I remained in South Africa for 6 years, before moving on to Dubai, where I remained for a further 5 years. My claim to fame whilst in Dubai was winning an International rugby cap for the Arabian Gulf when we played Kenya. Whilst in the Middle East I also spent time in Abu Dhabi and Al Khobar.
I then returned to Cape Town where I spent a further 4 years before moving up to Johannesburg for the final 5 years before returning to the UK in 2005.
During my career I have worked in construction, the waste industry and recycling. During this time, I’ve enjoyed many varied roles including presenting seminars, interacting with people and making lifelong friends along the way.
I have a wonderful son, Anthony, who is married to my daughter in law Charlie, a fantastic adopted daughter, Ashleigh, (that’s quite another story!) and now a wonderful teenage step daughter, Evie and lots of wonderful friends. My life is pretty much complete, apart from this calling that I have had for a several years to have my own business and become a Celebrant.
My hobbies include people, photography, walking, watching any sport (yes, I am reduced to that now), cycling, kayaking, driving, caravanning and just loving life in general.
I consider myself to be an extremely positive person and always see a glass half full rather than half empty. I believe I have an abundance of work and life skills that I can’t wait to share with you all. If I seem to be the type of person that could help you in any of the services on this website, then please do get in touch.
